I’m planning to go deer hunting this year and I’m setting aside some cash to buy a rifle or shotgun, I’ve heard suggestions to get both, so I’m asking poal, what kind of gun would be best for deer hunting for someone that has very little experience with guns?

Your gun shop did sound like it was steering you well. But in the end, only your own experience will answer this.

Maybe I can find a place that will let me try some out before I guy like chips said.

Great idea. If you have any gun shops in your area with a shooting range, they generally allow rentals to try. You may pay a small fee, but it could be worth it ... and who knows, they may not even charge you.
