Yeah boy! I thought as much. Get a Doogee phone, side load https://lineageos.org/ and never look back. There are other operating systems that aren't pwned but you have to start somewhere.

Samsung phones have all that knox shit on them and you can brick that mofo if you're not careful. There's 3-4 pieces of software that will enable you to root it, including majisk, odin and a couple others including firmware for the phone. check XDA forums
