best thing for spiders is tal-star, treat your front, back, and side yard(s) and make sure it drys for at least an hour (don't do it before rain), it kills every bug in your yard for about 6-8 months, don't spray your garden. It kills spiders but most importantly it kills all their food, so they will fuck right off.

i placed a half bar outside under the HVAC that sits on a cement pad. there's a gap in the foundation, a small hole where the little and big rodents must have been getting in the walls and attic. well, the half bar was gone by morning. I put a whole bar broken into big chunks under there again and those were gone next morning, too. i did that one more time and not all the bait was gone. Knock on wood, that was two or three years ago and I haven't had a problem since. So I am going to do some maintenance placement soon.
