Pizza, sure. Now, put anchovies on a caesar salad. It works.
Most people don't realize that anchovies are a main ingredient in traditionally made Caesar dressing.

Suddenly I have the urge to make a homemade pizza from scratch. Anyone have a favorite recipe that doesn't use yeast?
Found the jew
Anchovies, bacon, mushrooms, onion, extra sharp cheddar, mozzarella.
can't go cheap on those anchovies. if seeing them on the pizza or dealing with those little bones puts you off, add the anchovies when making the red sauce. i like to drizzle the anchovy oil on the crust half way thru the bake.
I don't like anchovies, but it's a classic pizza.
Pineapple.
Anchovies make a great broth, not a great topping
On pizza yes, but not with red sauce. Has to be bechamel based.
Idk that I would say it is the best pizza ever, but yeah they are good AF when done right.
Anchovis is for Gubbröra or Janssons frestelse.
Boiled egg, chives, dill, red onion and mayonnaise/sour cream/creme fraiché, on some dark dense bread like kavring.
Looks like I'll be driving to the Scandinavian shop to buy some Grebbestads Ansjovis, as both of those dishes sound right up my alley. Thanks for sharing.
Not that you care, but I picked up some abba ansjovis and made both the traditional gubbrora with the kalles kaviar and egg yolks and no onion, and the version with mayo and onion instead of the kalles and yolks. We ate them on some rye crispbread. Both were tasty, but I preferred the latter. Straight out of the tube, the kalles tastes good at first but then hits you with a really strong fishy flavor. Good for seasoning, not so much straight eating imho.
I followed the recipes from here. https://www.swedishfood.com/appetisers/539-gubbrora
Looking forward to making Jansson's frestelse. I can't imagine that not being great, so consider this farewell. Thanks again for the suggestions.
The recipe looks good, maybe the lemon is a bit weird but I suppose it's garnish. Red onion is not a must and probably not traditional anyway.
Kalles Kaviar is not traditional, it's kinda new. How is it too fishy? Kalles Kaviar is the stuff kids eat here because it tastes like nothing. It's the blandest fish roe in the world. It's a classic to make a boiled and sliced egg sandwich with Kalles Kaviar, try that. How much did the tube of Kalles Kaviar cost and how big was it?
I just thought the Kalles wasn't so good by itself.
It was around $7 for 6.7 oz. tube.
