You're going to need a battery on the larger scale for 6.5 miles one way. This is partially why I recommend building it yourself, as the batteries won't be proprietary and you'll likely to be able to get them quickly and cheaply when they eventually start waning (years from now). I would say whatever mileage they claim, half it. Those are flat surface, no wind and no stops estimates.
