I have a toddler and am planning to home educate him. Our local public library is wanting these days on quality books, so I’ve taken to collecting high quality books myself. Many I am collecting for our home library are over his head right now. I gravitate toward out of print Christian children’s books and books that directly or indirectly celebrate the simple family life. Also I have entirely too many picture books on trains and vehicles per my son’s interest. Haha

The other day I counted about 80 board books and around 300 children’s books. My husband has at least 300 to his name and I probably have 300 or more. Many are boxed in the closet as we live in a small house and I need more bookshelves!

I have read or skimmed most all of my books. Many of them are reference books (herbs, homesteading, cookbooks, etc) and almost all of them non-fiction. It brings me great joy to sit and read and when I’m busy working around the house I listen to podcasts and audiobooks.

What good would any of the "info" I gather do? Look at the questions I post. I don't post anything political or controversial, ever. I don't do that anymore. I am a fed though.....

Those that have books have information that needs to be eradicated.

One thing my kids understand: their parents have a strict budget for most everything ... except books.

I will buy any (age and morally appropriate) book they ask for. There is no family spending budget for books. Maybe 1/2 are e-books and 1/2 are physical. I'm guessing 10 new books a month? It adds up. They also supplement with library rentals and they give away the books that they have outgrown. So, we do try to keep the space reasonable, but lots of boxes of books around here.

For ebooks check out libgen.is and z-lib.org. You'll save hundreds. The pricing on ebooks is fucking absurd.

Awesome. It feels good to have books for some reason. I like to have at least 50 unread books on hand at all times. We have little free libraries in my area. Little boxes people put up in the neighborhoods. People leave books and take books. There are dozens of them near me so I always have access to new books.

I built 4 in- wall bookcases, about 6x3. Thought ok, I can break down by subject: fuedal Japan, old West, the Alamo, custer, WWI, ETC. Did not have enough space. I need to add a 7L x 4.5 T shelf, that ought to help.

1,000 or so. I’ve read many, but not all.

Around 300. I've transitioned to e-books in the past couple years just because it's so much more convenient, but if I really like the book, I'll buy the physical copy too just for nostalgia sake / add to my library.

I do e books as well as real books. It is nice and on Kindle you can download pretty big samples of any books you are interested in.

I have 100's of books. Many I have read, not all.

My favorite one is the Bell Curve. I keep it placed on my book shelf so curious visitors are sure to see it as they peruse my collection.

My fav is my leatherbound collection of Henry Ford's International Jew. It took me 5 different times of ordering it to finally get it. I think a lot of independent book sellers list it so it ties your money up for a month, then they'd always come back and say never mind. It's next to The Bell Curve.

a few hundred? started going to small local shops looking for old copies of some of my favorite to make sure I get an "un edited" version to make the pc people happy.

Several hundred, at least. Don't like digital books.
