HI tested as low as 136 and as high as 172. But I’m a fucking dumbass. So you can guess what I think about IQ tests. That entire three-year period ruined my life. Well, it was my fault, and my parents were pretty absent. I can’t blame anyone else, but I immediately became enamored with myself and decided that I didn’t need to listen to anyone about anything, didn’t need to work hard at school anymore, fuck, I didn’t even need to go to school anymore. But that I stupidly went to college anyway. At least I didn’t get indoctrinated, but I also didn’t learn a damn thing and wasted a ton of money ar an Ivy League school. What I really wanted to do was learn one particular trade but I felt like I needed to be a doctor. Then I decided I needed to be a lawyer. I didn’t want to be either of those things and wasted an enormous amount of time. What I really wanted to do was something so stupid I won’t even mention it here. But I would’ve been happy doing it. No, not me, not Mr. smarty-pants, I had to wreck the next 20 years of my life. I married a hyper intelligent woman and our children, all three of them, are exceptionally gifted. I will not allow their IQs to be tested. I don’t want them to be told how smart they are. I want them to be told that they are hard-working, have integrity, and are smart enough to get anything done that they truly want to do. But I’m not going to burden them with the built-in excuse to be lazy. They have, two of them, my personality type. Telling them exactly how smart they are will damn them. The smartest one of all three of them is my daughter. It’s frightening how intelligent she is. Before she could even read she had memorized, no exaggeration, 200 or 250 books just from bedtime stories told to her. When it was late and I wanted to go to bed and I try to skip a few words or a few pages during bedtime book readings, she would slip back to the previous page and make me start over. All three of them have issues developmentally but are hardworking and honest and empathetic. Every other problem they have, typical of children with very high IQs, are workable. We can fix them. The one thing you can’t fix is opening that door to laziness and arrogance. That can never be closed once it’s opened. It took me 20 years to fix that. But I also had a woman in my life who didn’t take my shit. I had to shape up. I’m not entirely sure any of my three children are ever going to be blessed enough to find a life mate as perfect for them as my wife was for me. I finally got my life together and everything worked out. That would not have happened without her. I’m not gonna leave that up to chance for my children.
