I have learned that my dog will howl at certain sirens. To me they all sound the same, but to her there are differences.
I've also read that dogs some how know the ones that are carrying the soul to its last earthly destination.
I have to say I believe it.
As I have intentionally studied the sounds of the sirens to try to explain the difference my dog seems to know about. But, as of yet, that is the only explanation that makes sense to me.
Deep I know. But true.
Maybe its not the sound but the smell of death
May all the hounds howl when we journey to Valhalla !
The road is behind a wall. It's a bit of a distance as well.
She literally, will run through the house and through her doggy door the second she hears the sound of the siren.
She's not a yapping type of dog either. Normally quiet. She's also a mutt.
And when she decides to howl, she will stop and stand, as if in reverence.
I'm also on a out skirts of an elderly community. Not far from a hospital.
And btw, during the last few months the amount of sirens have been greatly reduced. 5+ a day during the initial covid period and preceding months were not uncommon to hear.
