Prof, you're saying you believe a sociopath does not have to be intelligent.
I mean to ask, is everyone intelligent a bit of sociopath to some degree?

OK. It was unclear from the way you phrased your question.
It's a vague question you're asking. "To some degree" could very well include all people, not just intelligent people. Speaking for myself, I definitely have a good bit of the 'lack of empathy' symptom.
Yeah, I have to say "some" degree since it's not a quantifiable measure.
I feel it too.
I think the answer is usually yes.
When discussing a lack of empathy, I feel it's possible we are discussing a lack of compassion instead
To me, empathy is knowing that someone else might feel hard done by my actions. Compassion is allowing that to affect my actions.

I don't dispute your definitions. When I say that I lack empathy to a degree, I mean just that. I don't even factor in how my actions my impact other people at times. It doesn't occur to me. It's not that I know my actions might hurt someone and don't care. Believe me, I do that too.
Purely anecdotal, but I’m “intelligent.” You can believe that or not…up to you.
That said, I’m not aggressive, but do hold to some degree all the other traits listed.
You can ask questions to frame a situation with others to suit your desired outcome. If I can do that…why wouldn’t I? I guess that’s manipulative and deceitful.
As for lack of empathy…nobody is special. The world sucks and it’s a bitch. Giving handouts and help to everyone who is unable to help themselves is a waste of my emotional bandwidth. Is that a bad position to hold?
So technically I guess I could qualify as sociopathic…. I don’t see it as a bad thing, though.
Thanks. I think I'm just in the middle of redefining the term "sociopath" in my mind. It's always had a negative connotation to me but it's because of what I've been told/taught.
