He is Lord of the Sabbath does not mean He is the Sabbath. That doesn't really make sense. Christ also said we should keep the commandments, right? #4 Remember the Sabbath by keeping it holy... If Christians were not to keep the Sabbath, why did Paul continue keeping it as his custom, just as Christ Himself did as a custom.
Literally does say he is our resting sabath. Remember: In galatians, Paul set the boundary for gentiles and Jewish customs at the dispute at Antioch. Even in John 9, the pharisees said Jesus did not hold the Sabbath-He did works in the day on the Sabbath. Not to mention he drank wine(which was against Jewish custom), and he touched the dead(which was against Jewish custom). Also, holding the Sabbath isn't in the ten commandments, not to mention whatever Jesus says is a commandment because he is God. As for Paul continuing to hold on to that custom, same reason for his argument against gentiles not getting circumcised and gentiles circumcising: it is their culture, however it is not required.
Jesus set the example for Christians. He went into church (the synagogue) on the Sabbath as a custom. He did not discard the regulations of the old covenant; he fulfilled them. The early church did not worship on Sunday until Constantine said so in ~321 AD.
Yes he did. How did one enter the old covenant? Through circumcision of the foreskin. In his new covenant, that circumcision became baptism. Again, when Paul and Titus spoke of it(a Jewish custom), Paul clearly defined the unnecessary Jewish custom as not being required. When Paul confronted Peter, again, further defined that the old customs were unnecessary. What Jesus upheld was God's law, and as being our resting sabath(as it clearly states in the verses I brought up) in his death, by our baptism. We go into sabath with him. As he is lord of the sabath. He fulfilled the old covenant, and created a new one with his body and blood.
