Try roasted dandelion roots. Will give you a buzz without keeping you up all night. Taste is similar to coffee too.

Default: No, get a good night's sleep and recover. Get your coffee in the morning to help you get going.

Unless you're working night shift and your attention is required for the job - in which case, have some but flush it down with some water too so you don't get dehydrated (that goes for morning coffees too)

Don't disrupt the sleep cycle, then later whine about insomnia...it takes very little effort to start, and damnably difficult to fix.

I think a cup of cocoa is better at nighttime.
