Fair point, those with the ability to invest could work through a bank that would sell ownership in a company in a way similar to bonds (though this is a little close to stock and should probably be excluded). If the market was large enough a centralized trading /tracking system would be needed to keep prices nationwide level - bringing us back to what we have today...
