Anyone here remember what a pencil or pennies or a quick tug on one end of the tape had to do with listening to music? Basically, the three solutions to three different problems.

Pencil... fit perfectly in the sprocket hole on a cassette, used to wind the tape back inside the cassette.

Quick tug... would pull the tape back inside an 8-track.

Pennies... ummm... I got nothing.

Holy shit!

That's a great way to screw up the needle/ cartridge, not to mention damaging the vinyl! I'm so glad the tech advanced to non-contact methods of playback!

A US penny IIRC is about 3 grammes. Typical good cartridge will track around 1.5 grammes.
