used to build computers as a teenager from parts scrounged up from the recycling center. got a voodoo3 card with a vga port, flashed it to work with the mac os hardware. was able to plug in an IBM monitor and it was night and day between that and the mac monitor with its proprietary port.

also: used one of the old imacs for a while. way slicker than windows XP. except you couldnt upgrade the ram, couldnt upgrade the graphics card, couldnt even plug in normal speakers -- proprietary speaker jack. got an ipod for xmas. apple dropped their firewire support for the ipod. no usb 2.0 either. so transfering songs at slow usb 1.1 speeds sucked. with apple. using all proprietary shit and not supporting standards the helped create.

that said, both iphone and android suck. wouldn't care to use one over the other. google sucks, ios sucks, windoze fone is dead, and no consumer friendly alternatives.
