I don't like the idea of anyone being hurt. People punching each other is ugly and to be avoided at great cost.

But sometimes I think I'd rather fight someone than suffer the indignity of backing down. Not for fear of the fight but because I am trying to build a life and legal problems are the last thing I need.

For example, those guys who beat the shot out of the guy who attacked Chris Rick. Clearly that was excessive force but none of them will be charged I guarantee you. Meanwhile I feel like if I so much as get into any kind of fight I will be charged with felony assault and go to prison.

The last thing I want to do is fight but there's so many assholes these days. I'd really like to make it out of this metropolis and into a rural area in a non-nuclear target part of the old usa.

As with everything these days, it depends on your race and location. I know a White guy who got into a fist fight with another White guy in a parking lot. Average working guys with no political connections. A bloody nose was the extent of damage. It was all on security video from the store. Observers called police and the cop decided it was an even fight and no big deal but he had to file a report on the call. Neither was arrested.

Weeks later the liberal big city district attorney reviewed the case and realized she could charge a White guy with felony assault which would help balance her statistics showing lots of minorities charged with assault. So this guy was never arrested, but got charged with a felony. He had to hire an attorney to get it reduced to a misdemeanor and dismissed with some community service hours. Cost him thousands of dollars and lost his job because he was doing company business at that location. Of course, if the other guy wasn't also White, he might be in jail today because they would have made it out as a racial assault.
