I don't like the idea of anyone being hurt. People punching each other is ugly and to be avoided at great cost.

But sometimes I think I'd rather fight someone than suffer the indignity of backing down. Not for fear of the fight but because I am trying to build a life and legal problems are the last thing I need.

For example, those guys who beat the shot out of the guy who attacked Chris Rick. Clearly that was excessive force but none of them will be charged I guarantee you. Meanwhile I feel like if I so much as get into any kind of fight I will be charged with felony assault and go to prison.

The last thing I want to do is fight but there's so many assholes these days. I'd really like to make it out of this metropolis and into a rural area in a non-nuclear target part of the old usa.

In my youth, I've had multiple parking lot fist fights. I was arrested on one, cited on 2, and charges dropped on all because the 'victims' never showed up. They were misdemeanor charges. If a weapon or alcohol/drugs are involved, it can up the charges, but either way, will definitely mean a trip downtown. My advice...don't stick around. Let the police come find you. You're under no obligation to sit and wait for them, and then just remain silent. Courts have much bigger fish to fry than some bruised egos having a throwdown.
