I always answer I’m a homemaker Yes I homeschool my children, but that is part of making my home. People scoff/become uncomfortable at the term - but it is the perfect all encompassing umbrella word for what a mother is supposed to do.

Usually the reaction is disregard me as a person and go talk to someone else or change the subject. It’s a conversation stopper for sure...
