Google search: 'mechanical watches' then click 'shopping'

They are all crap, unless you are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on one. They don't keep time, and they don't work for very long. There is no pride of workmanship at the low end for mechanical watches.

You'll find them in 'antique' shops.

Yeah I remember my dad having alot of them but I cant find them. They used to stop on his wrist for some reason but ran fine off. I would think in this 'emp' life someone would still make them.

The 'antique' shops have lots of stuff going back thru the decades, some stuff is pure junk (like old over-the-counter medications), however I've seen wind up watches there too. You can test to see if the spring works, or if you like the style and know a watch repair shop you trust, they could repair the insides for you. The really good stuff will be locked behind a display counter of course, but if you want something, you can usually find it in working condition.

Be more specific:

do you want an Old watch

or

Do you want a Mechanical (wind up) watch?

Plenty of both, PLENTY... but knowing if you want old or just mechanical will go a long ways to getting you pointed in the right direction. Price always helps... I mean, otherwise an early Rolex would be a great suggestion (they got their name for being robust/reliable, for Workmen... and then morphed into the gaudy shit they are today).

mechanical, would like to buy several. I havent found them to be plentiful at all. Price does matter.

So, on the more affordable side, look to ETA or Seiko movements. Back when I was into watches, I was on PMWF.com but they are either gone, or migrated to kikebook... used to have a spreadsheet of All kinds of watches at all kind of prices (but usually $100~300, which is cheap in the world of watches).

Check brands Sekio, Hamilton, Citizen, Tissot, Orient, and Vostok. There are a TON of others out there, so search by movement. I usually went with independent watchmakers, like MKII (shit, those things are 2~3 times more expensive now than the last time I bought one). I wouldn't rule out Automatic watches (still mechanical, may not have a manual wind option though).

My wife has had good luck getting old mechanical Russian made watches on Etsy. Looks like there are a fucking half million results on ebay, several pages of them for under $100

not cheap but a reputable company:

sorry for not being more specific, not looking for just vintage but reasonably priced to buy several.

eBay is an option, the old soviet watches are all wind up, just stay away from magnets

That ebay search had a watch from Ukraine at the top. How the fuck during a war zone are people running ebay shops?

I bought a Russian stop watch years ago. Beautiful steel case. Looked great. The fucker stopped working after I had used it about a dozen times. No quality control with Russian goods.

Sturhling Skeleton is all I wear; wrist and pocket variety. these are wind and perpetual motion movement

Maybe its just me, but my comp does not like that search.

Yeah I went to amazon with it, then tried the ebay link another member gave and it takes awhile then turned everything to russion.

hmmmm, never had this shit happen before, no pics showing up, just prices and top and bottom of page
