Something I hear all the time, but is it really? It just feels like a composite of whatever bullshit is (((popular))) that day, hedonism, etc. Not really a culture per se. At least in the 60s we had a unifying culture of being white and Christian. but now, what exactly is the culture supposed to be?

There are several cultures in the US. Most of them are regional. I grew up in rural, central CA and hav stayed mostly to the west of the Mississippi. Gun culture, going out target shooting with a group of friends. Rodeo/cowboy culture, wearing western boots and hats even if you end up working an office job. Hotrods, fixing up old cars in to street racers. Low riders. Surfers/skateboarders. Lumberjacks in the Pacific Northwest. Cajun/swamp people. A culture doesn't have to encompass the entire nation.
