It's a protection against sleeper accounts used to game votes.

Your account has gone inactive for too long, so just be active aka post/comment stuff for a while and you'll be able to vote again.

Basically you could have been removed from the voter roll, and lose the right to vote. Make sure you bring ID to the polls with address.

I have no idea why I can vote. I hardly ever say anything here, just lurked since poal died and I largely did the same there. Mostly continuing my internet journey to find some remote corner with the comfy feel of old /k/ and /x/.
