I can't really understand where commodity pricing on oil is going, but I will say this: Every single cell tower in the US has multiple diesel generators (one for each carrier) on site for backup power in case of some kind of power failure. I mean, I guess you could replace those with some kind of energy storage device that is charged by a solar panel but I do not know how practical that is currently. This is just one example of energy demands that are not being considered when people talk about oil now. This is in no way a high volume demand, and does not command market prices in any way, but it is a critical component to backup telecommunications infrastructure and it will be interesting to see what happens to compensate for this.
