Buy an old radio alarm clock from a thrift store and tune it to an empty channel of static. $5 white noise generator. Preferably wood paneled because that shit looks cool. The GE ones play for an hour if you hit the snooze button, just long enough to get you to sleep.

That's actually really good advice for a cheap white-noise machine.

Plus, I can tune it to Power 99 Philly if I need a black noise machine.
