White noise makers are extremely helpful for me sleeping. Avoid the ones that have a looping noise sample because that will drive you nuts. I've found several LectroFan Classic units at thrift stores and they make true random noise of adjustable tone, never looping. There are also good apps, like myNoise (iOS/Android) or Noise Generator by TMSOFT (Android), played through a speaker.

I've been using a box fan for years, I think I may have actually had low-grade tinnitus for a long time.
It has just ramped up way more in the past few weeks.
