Not to sound trite, but I feel like there is a very real dark mirror that is held up to this reality.
Somewhere I often go to when I sleep. I think a lot of people experience the same thing, and attempt to depict it as best they can.
It is almost like here, but really uncanny and tinged with darkness.
But when I look at certain media, I feel like the person in charge of producing it as seen it too.
Like Zelda: Link to the Past, with the mirror universe, or David Lynch with Eraserhead, or in Tetsuo, the Iron Man.
And it isn't really a dream world. It is this world, so close to us, just seeing all the aspects of darkness we usually aren't observant enough to notice.
Talking about mirrors, I learned recently about an old western tradition about mirrors, it was in a ghost documentary "most haunted houses in the US" or something like that. And in the past, they used to cover mirrors when a death happened in a household because they believed that the dead could end up trapped, in mirrors
It is just always a weird dim purple dusk when I have those dreams.
You know, it's really odd that you say that. There is this recurring place that I dream about, and sometimes visit when completely zoning out (astral projection, perhaps?).
The place is a small, two story cabin in the middle of a field. On three sides are a forest, with a mountain facing the front. Behind it, there is more field followed by a beautiful river in a valley, and hills beyond that. It's in perpetual twilight with a purple sky. The foilage ranges from dark green to shades of violet. It's ethereal; it doesn't feel like this planet.
It is completely devoid of animal life and has no other inhabitants. Does that sound familiar?
I had a dream recently where I was sitting in my living room, the front door was open, screen door closed, and the outside was a bright red haze, like the entire world was on fire. It didn't affect my house and beautiful streams of golden-white light were streaming in through the windows. There was a demon sitting at my door that was a mix between a black goat and a white pitbull, and it was furious that it couldn't get inside my house. I stared it down from my chair and I felt completely safe and knew it couldn't come in. I'm not really religious but it felt like a religious dream.
