I just came across a Roland Jupiter-8 synth on ebay for $36,500 - quite possibly the most expensive piece of gear I've seen online (so far).

This Steinway 1884 Model D Rosewood Grand Piano is apparently $212,000 https://www.chuppspianos.com/pianos/steinway/steinway-model-d/1884-model-d-grand-piano/

This nigger's piano sold for $3.4 million https://twitter.com/AmericanFilm/status/537628547511115776

But if you're looking for something not "pre-owned" then there's the limited edition Steinway Fibonacci piano that retails at about $2.4 million https://www.steinway.com/pianos/steinway/limited-edition/fibonacci

$185,000 Fazioli.

Got to play a double bass for an afternoon that was supposed to have been worth $45,000ish.

Is the voice an instrument?

Yeah, but unless you have perfect pitch and a 4 octave range, it's not worth much.

I've had my guitar for 17 years and worked it to the point it's better than anything I can get my hands on. Also has something I made that's one of a kind and makes it sound very distinctive.

It's priceless to me.

  1. Messiah Stradivarius ($20,000,000) With an estimated price of more than $20 million, the Messiah Stradivarius is the most expensive violin to ever exist. It was crafted in 1716 by Antonio Stradivari, a world-renowned maker of the best violins in the world. Stradivari created the Messiah during his golden period and stayed in his shop until his death in 1737. Violinists do not play with it as much, hence its relatively new condition. These are some of the reasons why this instrument is expensive.

It was made during Stradivari‘s “golden period” It has never been played in over 300 years of existence. Several violinists have come close to playing the violin including Jean-Delphin Alard (who gave its name), Nathan Milstein, and Joseph Joachim, but none have done so yet. At present, it is on display at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England.

That's chump change compared to grand pianos.

How many people do you know have a grand piano? Now how many people do you know have a guitar or a synth or a small musician's set-up?

I know more people with grand pianos than quality guitar setups. But I'm a pianist so that's not really a reasonable sampling lol.
