But, generally, they have a shelf life of 6 months... maybe can stretch to 9 months in a rough situation. If you make it right, maybe a year. The sugars break down first... so they worse they taste, the longer they last.
In the freezer, they'll last years.
They are great trail food, as a little goes a long way, and they're heavy on the stomach. Homemade pemmican and Anzac cookies are great carry with you food that is dense enough and light enough to carry weeks of food in a bear proof container.
