I'd say 98.5 percent of the ones I meet are retarded deviants and the other 1.5 are just retarded. I never understood why it's fun to sit in a dusty dried lake bed for 10 days and pretend you're in a utopian society of art, drugs, sex, and boho hipsters. I mean don't get me wrong I like dry lake beds but when it's colder out, empty of people and quiet.

I bet in the early days it was probably cool. I dont see the sense now that you have to pay outrageous sum to party. Its also ridiculous that a party meant to celebrate non authority is now highly regulated.

I have a buddy who went to like one of the first ones and he said it was by a bridge I don't remember what bridge but it was just like on the shore by a bridge pretty low-key pretty unexciting other than it was just something different to do in the neighborhood.

The event originated on June 22, 1986, on Baker Beach in San Francisco as a small function organized by Larry Harvey and Jerry James, the builders of the first Man.

Baker Beach is just down from the Golden Gate Bridge.
