I'd say 98.5 percent of the ones I meet are retarded deviants and the other 1.5 are just retarded. I never understood why it's fun to sit in a dusty dried lake bed for 10 days and pretend you're in a utopian society of art, drugs, sex, and boho hipsters. I mean don't get me wrong I like dry lake beds but when it's colder out, empty of people and quiet.

Satanic celebration of bohemian degeneracy.

Pseudo American counter culture. Really just wealthy city folks tired of doing drugs in a friend's loft and having sex on the couch.

More to it than that. They purposely try to inject various spiritual elements to what they are doing, while combining it with psychedelics.

[–] 2 pts

Everyone that I've met that's gone there is either disheveled, really well off, or a drug or sex addict with the above two points included.

I believe BM is similar to Sturgis, if you catch it in the early stages it’s probably a lot of fun. Once the Jews and the masses catch on, it’s too late.

As with anything it's great up until the masses catch on and dilute it and try to make money out of it. I live out in a camper for the past couple years and I've noticed that all the meetups that I go to are hollow shells of what they used to be. most of the people that show up now are not even on the road or or trying to learn about living out, camping out, living a simple life. Living in the great outdoors. they just want to go get ripped drunk, party, and fuck girls. they really do sour the mood of of like minded companionship because they're only out for a couple weeks and then they go back to their enclaves to continue on with their lives looking for the next distraction.

Camping, golf, airplanes come to mind, things I’ve seen transform and cater to the lowest common denominator. Very sad.

Well at least the cocoons and the boons don't like the camp so that's good. But you do get a lot of white trash and locals going out causing havoc. I can't really speak to golf my father's big into golf and a lot of those guys can be insufferable chip and Chaz they can suck really bad. The airplanes are the worst. Even sitting in first class you can't get away from it. Usually you get some diamond fucking curly haired Jew sitting next to you and you just crowded in like a fucking bunch of herded cattle. going to buy your sandwich before you get on at least you don't have to wear your fucking fouchy tampon anymore so that's a plus.

Depends on what man was burned.

I think usually it's just private parts from STDs and a lot of lumber that could be used in better ways.

[–] 1 pt

How about ?

[–] 2 pts

I bet in the early days it was probably cool. I dont see the sense now that you have to pay outrageous sum to party. Its also ridiculous that a party meant to celebrate non authority is now highly regulated.

I have a buddy who went to like one of the first ones and he said it was by a bridge I don't remember what bridge but it was just like on the shore by a bridge pretty low-key pretty unexciting other than it was just something different to do in the neighborhood.

The event originated on June 22, 1986, on Baker Beach in San Francisco as a small function organized by Larry Harvey and Jerry James, the builders of the first Man.

Baker Beach is just down from the Golden Gate Bridge.

Burning man was the best in the early 2000's, went to complete shit when it caught on and all the wannabe non-conformists started showing up in droves.

[–] 1 pt

I want to go to Burning Man before it's all over, but I can't justify the expense and trouble it would be to get there. Who doesn't want to sit in a lawn chair under an awning and watch the parade of freaks go past? It's the greatest show on Earth. In fact, I want to take a nationist display to Burning Man -- maybe put on a play showing how Joe Biden is already dead, but is being animated by Disney animatronics engineers, using alien technology from Roswell.

Eh, it would be cheaper and more convenient to go to a weekend event in the California desert by Joshua tree. More highways and a Walmart close by.

Yes, write them off, but score some MDMA off them first

Is that like an anal popper....?

They're trying to relive the woodstock "lovefest" - fucking filthy, disgusting hippies.

Hey hippies - DISCOVER SOAP!!

I’m probably the 1.5% you talk about, I’m a recovering retard. I don’t regret going, but as I get older I regret all the decisions I made that led me there. Well not that I regret them, after all it’s the life I’m in, or was in, but I could have chosen a more pure path I suppose. Anyhow, whole thing is an utter display of degeneracy, satanism and hypocrisy. It is a lot of fun in an extremely selfish way, it’s a hell of an experience and you do see some cool stuff and meet a lot of cool people, but there’s a lot of shit heads too. It’s like 90% vapid LA/San Fran materialists, 10% is people who come with better intentions.I went because I was chasing that original ethos from baker beach, unfortunately when I went in 2015, that vibe was just a small part of the event. It really did seem like one giant honey pot, I sensed much evil when I was there. It was like living a lifetime in the span of a week, I did learn a lot about myself and the world, I guess that’s the part I don’t regret. It gave me an opportunity to really look myself in the mirror. It was all capped off for me the night of the burn, I was on a lot of acid and god knows what else. I just remember looking back from the outer edges of the event and taking it all in, and just feeling really disappointed in myself and our generation. This was after all a bunch of people who claim to care about nature, and for an entire week totally decimate this sacred land for their own personal desires. It was a turning point in my life in which I’m trying to better myself and ultimately that lifestyle I was in… it ultimately led me here with all you retards. So there’s that.

Everything corrupts eventually. They get too popular they get too watered down they lose their focus, their soul. An example for me is I went to an event out in the desert for 4 years. it's been going on for 6. the second time I went was awesome. The last time I went it was totally devoid of its original purpose and it was just a party of drugs and people just sitting in one place with no meaning other than getting fucked up and saying that they were there. Things have cycles, most good things die after 2 to 3 years Ive found and then it's time to move on. As I said most of the people that I have met that have gone to burning Man are twats because they don't shut up about fucking burning Man. they just seem smug and insert a couple of other colorful descriptive words. It's like they tell you without you even asking. You know those kind of people in life, unsolicited annoyers. And to be honest all the stories that I hear are usually about drugs, copious amounts of fluid exchange, and talking about some life-changing event. Yeah 10 days of chaos will change your life. Not permanently but it'll definitely make you think differently for 6 months.

I think the core aspects of things like burning man or desert parties like you mention is ultimately tied to timeless activities whether it be sitting around a fire in nature, making music, art, and attempting to find community. But yeah I agree, once the fleeting sources of joy come in, like drugs and sex, that’s when the flaky people show up, puts a lifespan on whatever event it is. But really, and that was my big take away, is that you don’t need all of the other nonsense, just stick to the timeless aspects of life and you find yourself with everything you need.

Very good point. I'll still do a desert gathering here and there but they got to be new. new spots, new people, virgin forest if you will.

Cool post. I thought it could be interesting to go to burning man one day but now I get it's not the organic and somewhat free party it used to be at the beginning. It seems it continues to exist because of the legends that came out of the early editions

Who knows maybe it is a lot of fun but everyone that I bump into who's an 'ambassador' makes me really not jealous that I have not ever gone.
