How are you cooking and what are you cooking in? You shouldn't have them completely breaking down that fast. If you're winding up with a lot stuck on your pan, it may have to do with the temperature you're cooking at, the pan, and the fat (or lack of fat) you're cooking with.
We toss our sponge once a month, and we're cooking and handwashing things every single day. They're still usable at the 1 month, but starting to wear.
