Scrub daddy. Hard when cold, flexible when warm and lasts a long time.

I like the Scotch Bright Stay Clean sponges, the purple ones. IMO they last a lot longer than the old ones. Only place I can find them now is Amazon. (Yea, I know. Some things just can't be found locally.) And you need to let them dry out completely, I set mine on edge in the soap dish, so air can get all around them. Last time I bought them, a pack of 12 was $33. Currently unavailable at that price, but worth watching. I have not tried the similar scrubber or scouring pad.

I also use Scrub Mommy, a round sponge, for getting to the bottom of glasses/nutribullet-type containers.

My wife recently bought some 'Peachy Clean silicone scrub-pads'. She's been off her feet for six weeks with a broken knee so I've been doing the dishes (I hate unloading a dishwasher). So far these things have been great.

Paper plates.

...and Solo cups and plastic utensils. I'm leaving a carbon footprint like a Yeti.

I hate doing dishes as well.

Ive been using the same cheap ikea brush for years. I toss it in the dishwasher to clean it. Same with sponges. Granted i mostly use my dishwasher.

The only time my sponges really fall apart is when they get demoted to bathroom duty and im using barkeepers friend to clean the tub. What cleaner are you using with the sponges?

I learned about brushes a few years ago and it changed my dishwashing. Super pre-treatment for crap on things. Quick, easy to clean.

I use one sponge for maybe 6 months until it falls apart, use it to clean all dishes (I don't use a dishwasher machine). Never stinks because I squeeze it out after each use and set it to dry.

Dish soap only.

Are you letting the food dry out and really harden on the stuff and have to scub real hard? A quick rinse while its fresh makes a big diff or letting it soak.

Sometimes, but try not to let that happen.

I use Dawn dish soap to clean my shower. It’s super cheap and much more effective than ‘bathroom cleaners’.

They last a long time for me. What are you doing with them that they last only two weeks? You can just boil them to disinfect them.

The fibers break down fast. The scrubber breaks apart quickly too.

Are you using those green-yellow ones? They can last me six months easily.

[–] 1 pt

You can buy them pretty cheap in bulk. I assume you're referring to the green ones.

It's not the cost so much, I'm concerned that when the supply chains break, they'll be unobtainable.

I always use steel wool. It's cheap, effective, and they last forever. I use them to scrub the dishes, pots, and pans before they go into the dishwasher. I save the green sponges for the more delicate stuff I care about getting scratched and would only hand wash.

Dishwashers are the most useless machine ever, if I have to "wash" the fucking dishes before I "wash" the fucking dishes - what's the fucking point?!

That's as stupid as ordering from the grocery store on the internet, then going to pick it up - WTF?!?!?! If you have to go to the store to pick it up what's the fucking point?!?!?! Or are the idiots, mostly lazy, retarded, fucking millennials, to good to shop with the rest of us "commoners"?!?!?

I scrape the dishes off and scrub them because the dish washer can't do that effectively, but what it can do is get them up to a higher temperature which makes them more sanitary to use again. I realize I am a bit overzealous with my cleaning habits, and can respect the logic you present.

Edit: I also wanted to answer to the Internet grocery ordering as it is also something I do (except I have them delivered to my house, I do not go pick them up). This is going to sound fairly rude, but it's the truth - my time is valuable, and I can't stand wasting my time or crowds for that matter (I also happen to hate societal norms just that much, so I am grateful for the option to avoid as many people as possible). I would rather pay someone to bring my groceries to me at a cost that is lower than the value of my time. I work a lot (I think it's only fair to contribute to household income), have to maintain the cleanliness of my home, and ensure that my husband and son's needs are also met - this means they have home cooked meals and desserts available at all times from scratch. I loathe to admit it, but short cuts are needed once in awhile (I still have to find time to work out to maintain a decent figure on top of my wifely duties). I'm not complaining though, I do enjoy my life, however, I struggle to find "me" time and everyone needs a break now and again.

You "scrape the dishes off and scrub them because the dish washer can't do that", yes it can, it's called using your muscles and a scrub pad.

"It can get them to a higher temperature which makes them more sanitary"? WTF do you think the detergent is for? WTF are there all these "anti-bacterial" detergents on the market if it's the "heat" that gets them "sanitary"?

And why do you need your dishes that "sanitary" anyhow? It's just you and your family eating off them, are you saying you and your family are contagious? Or did you become a hyperchondriac like everybody else from watching too much "news"? Or are you using them to perform surgery or something?

I use the ScochBrite "Advanced Scrub Dots.". They are antibacterial foam sponges that last a lot longer than the regular ones.
