The smoke itself is a carcinogen. Marijuana isn't a poison but like any other medicine/drug it has side effects. People shouldn't smoke every day for fun, it's a medicine for specific things but so many abuse it. I'd say it's safer than most pharmaceuticals for the majority to use on occasion, but not 100% safe and abusing something 24/7 or being exposed to it constantly isn't good. You're not even really supposed to smoke it because the smoke is a carcinogen. The smoke itself could irritate you. If the second hand is enough to get you a buzz you could get side effects (like it throwing your hormones off, heavy pot smokers sometimes throw their hormones out of whack) but that's not very likely. You'd have to be in a room trapped in smoke, somewhere poorly ventilated to actually get high. If you're getting buzzed from the second hand smoke that's a huge problem and whoever's smoking it that close is being rude to you. Even at a distance though, smelling smoke can still bother you if you're really sensitive to it. Having whoever is smoking around you switch to a vaporizer might help, if smoke is the problem. You could be allergic to weed too. I'm allergic to it, not that bad but it makes me cough and sneeze, and itchy to be anywhere near the smoke. Touching the plant itself gives me a rash too. I can't stand the stuff. My mother in law is so allergic that it gives her trouble breathing to be in the same house as a marijuana smoker. A lot of people with asthma smoke, and medical marijuana is actually given to people with asthma but everyone's different. I think you're probably allergic to it.
Poor ventilation, so I do sometimes get mildly high from the smoke. I have very reactive lungs so even a tiny inkling of smoke, no matter the source will throw it into coughing fits
You shouldn't react to a vaporizer. What it gives off is a smell, at worst. There's no particulate big enough to capture in a filter or anything, so I doubt particles are big enough to bother your lungs.
