I recall seeing someone make a Arduino powered device with emp shielding that stored a plothera of useful post internet things like a dictionary, encyclopedia, medical books, etc. Anyone know of what I speak? I cannot find any in the searches I have done today.

You can put PDFs of this stuff on an old phone and then toss that in a faraday bag. The most inexpensive and easiest way to achieve this.

I was just looking at a faraday bag. Think I might try to do Arduino with a SSD as i want to grab some gardening videos and throw that in a faraday bag, thanks. My problem with a phone is the trackability...

I didn't think about trackability, but wouldn't keeping it in airplane mode prevent that? I'm not sure how these things ping without service or in airplane mode. I understand why people wouldn't trust them regardless. Another thought is that if there was an EMP situation that necessitated using the information on the phone, that would have also taken out the ability to track it.

It wouldn't be tracked while in the bag and powered off.

You may be right in thinking that trackability after an emp is limited risk but airplane mode is not an impediment for tracking, neither is turning it off... Depending on whom is doing the tracking.

Put it on a high-endurance microSD card (e.g. Samsung Pro Endurance) and put that in a thick metal box. And have a phone that accepts a card (many do).
