I rounded a corner and a crying man was preparing to step off the side of the structure to a certain death. So I talked to him. He said he was an abusive asshole, that he had been kicked out of his house, and he would never see his kids again. He was holding on to a railing, and he leaned back and started to let his fingers slip. I told him we all make mistakes, and that he needed to be the man his children need him to be....and he tightened his grip and pulled himself back in. Cops showed then and made me leave. I watched the cops talk him down and cuff him.
Weird shit. It was close. He almost was a splat.

I think those types of suicides usually just need someone like you to be in their way, someone to hear them confess and tell them not to do it.
