Youtube has undergone countless UI redesigns to end up where it is now. Alternative video sites don't have the resources to do the same.

They made only cosmetic changes. The UI layout is always the same.
Coding is basically free now.

I agree with you. As much as I hate the politics of the shits who own and run YouTube, it works better than other similar video hosting sites. Of course, I have their damned advertisements blocked, so the quality of product I get is much higher than that of the average Internet surfer. If I had to suffer through their ads, I probably would not use the site.

And very likely do not know about invidio.us instances which are more privacy-focused front-ends for youtube, to watch youtube videos without ads or trackers and they load faster, but with their downsides as well.
Its not just youtube, your average generic porn site has smoother performance/playback and cleaner design than sites like bitchute.
