So we appear to be in late-stage capitalism which is about to look a lot like late stage communism. I’ve always thought that lassaiz faire capitalist were as retarded as communists since both deny human nature and the existence of groups that are antithetical to human progress. We also need a cultural or national binding agent to stay on the same team happily, in my opinion.

Does pure capitalism equal pure communism over a long enough timeline?

Communism only works by believing everyone will do what's best (work for the greater good, share everything, etc) which is not human nature.

Capitalism works by counting on humans being greedy. It repurposes that generally negative but normal human attribute into a legal way to motivate people and society to function.

The second part is where both fail:

and the existence of groups that are antithetical to human progress.

No system can function when there are those that are working from the inside to actively destroy it. If capitalism were to be replaced, it would need to be by a system that naturally repels corruption. We haven't found that yet.
