I would leave too depending on the nature of the enemy. If I feel no moral obligation to defend the current government why stick around if leaving is an option? Leaving definitely has its draw backs. It can bring its own ruin as being displaced can leave you prospectless. But being shelled doesn't sound like much fun either. Which ever one is easier and beneficial to the parts of this world I do care about (not my traitor government).
If you are smart you don't fight. Standing in the way of your government getting toppled just helps make civilians a target and you endanger more than yourself by doing that. If you don't particularly like the invaders you can be an insurgency later. We've seen it can cost trillions of dollars to occupy a country with an insurgency. But first let the shitheads fight and weaken themselves before you step in. It's the only chance you have to operate at a scale relative to them that you'd even matter anyway. Either the US army or any army big enough to invade against the US army is so big pre-decimation that you are nothing. Save your energy.
