I'm 31. Working as a MRI supervisor in a large hospital. I've been in the medical field for 7 years, the longer I'm in it, the more I can't stand it. I have 54 people who I supervise. Most of them are self righteous, "powerful", independent women. I will spare you the details..

I'm really looking to get out and start new. I also have a family so I have to consider that. I've thought of learning a trade. Working for myself.. sure just doing what? What do the good citizens of poal do for a living? What do you recommend?

I don't know enough about medical field to give you complete advice, but since you got enough experience, maybe you should consider starting your own business that would provide some kind of service to the hospitas/clinics/medical professionals?

7 years is a lot of professional experience in most industries, especially ones like medical where before entering it you have to complete x number of years of education. It would be a shame to give all that up and start over.

I agree, open your own business. Then run it however you want, if you play your cards right you can get one of those "not welcoming to LGBTQ" icons on your Google map listing.

Yes he did. He fought a war on 3 fronts.

there's a lot of businesses that just provide MRI services to the medical community.

search for: MRI imaging center

Don't leave your patients at the mercy of those harpees. People like you are desperately needed in the medical field.

You could become a guy maintaining heavy equipment, millwright, or something along those lines. Cyber security pays well also.

[–] 2 pts

Cyber has you working with trannies and woketards.

OP try to get a job that’ll let you make a difference. Be a judge, an FBI agent, or even a sheriff deputy or something.

We need more based people in the right positions to help save the country.

Cyber can definitely be lucrative, but you're often going to be working for DoD, and you're likely going to need to start at the bottom and work your way up with crap jobs plus a new degree plus big certifications, plus get clearance. OP would need to invest several years into it and be willing to work with super-woke again to make good money.

Not saying it isn't possible - it is. I just think it's much more of a commitment for OP than he's looking to make with a family to support.

Bookkeeping is easy as fuck to get into - there are barely any regulations and there are lots of courses out there that teach you how to do it. But Indians and Philippinos are all over that industry fucking shit up for cheap, so the only way to make real money in that field is to offer a combo of bookkeeping and CFO services. CFO means charging at least $1,500 per month per client. You do the math. Could be done while maintaining the day job, and I know people in the field making 6 and 7 figures - many of them having both husband and wife working jointly. It's great for setting your own hours and choosing who you work with. If OP is interested, PM me for details.

Suicide bomber pays well but you need to buy new clothes after every shift.

Welding would be a good career move. It can be picked up pretty quickly and welders can make decent wages right out of the gate. Trade jobs will require you to start on the bottom. There is lots to learn and it's usually on the shitty side of the pay scale until you know what the hell you are doing. Depending on what you go with that could take some years.

[–] 1 pt

If you're good at a trade, you will turn down more work than you accept.

[–] 0 pt

It takes time to get good though

[–] 1 pt

Sure does, but once you're good at it.

I remember when I went to mechanic school, I was amazed at how fast my teacher worked. Old fat man was a fucking wizard with a wrench. That inspired me, just wanting to get on that level.

How much do the guys who maintain the MRI equipment make?

[–] 3 pts

My buddy changed from his role with GE doing some shit with electronics to being a guy who goes around maintaining those machines. Dude Ioves it. And as a bonus, these places toss electronics ALL THE TIME. He makes a nice bonus selling the stuff on Craigslist and eBay.

I don’t ask him his salary, but he just doesn’t complain at all and it’s been almost a decade.

Sounds like a good plan. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Work in health tech. I transferred from medical to health tech a few years ago, it's 100x better. Wages are actually fucking amazing (6 figures), people are actually not wastes of space, and if you actually have medical professionals on your team, you avoid a ton of that bullshit.

I went from working from a federal medical organization (with employees petty enough to flip off pictures of Trump when he was president in the lobby) to health tech and all they care about is if you can do the work. If you can, then you get so many fucking benefits.

Yeah, I suspect that there's some libtards in the ranks, but most companies are get shit done and we don't give a fuck.

[–] 0 pt

That's awesome. What do you do for the company you work for?

[–] 1 pt

Mainly do user research and testing with some design stuff. I tackle the nightmare that is ehr/emr integration and preventing clinician burnout. Health tech is great but has two caveats:

  1. Most health tech companies are usually startups of some sort. This means you might not have all the resources you expect or have to work quicker than you're used to.

  2. If you don't have an MD, make sure someone in the company does. Small health tech companies run on reputation, and there are a lot of tech bros (I. E. Ex-google) that think they can solve medicine with an outside perspective.

Ex - Google means shit compared to an MD (or at least MPH). Hospitals want to know you speak their language and can trust you with data.

If you're still interested, I know there was a push a while back for data science startups to work with medical imaging to do automatic tumor recognition in them. Search for vedadata (i think) for more info.

I have 54 people who I supervise.

Could you supervise in a factory instead?

From what I hear being a sparky is the best trade. Though I think a boilermaker would be fun. But remember the grass is always greener on the other side. Drilling through asbestos and plaster or welding all day will take its toll on you.

I have a friend that started a very successful spray painting restoration business and he has sold his business to open a cafe instead because of the toll on his body. Something to keep in mind if taking on a trade at 32.

Also there's a website called "CareerExplorer" which gives you a personality test and helps you identify positions that match your personality. I'm not sure if it's any good but maybe check it out.

Thanks for the ideas! I'll check them out

I do SEO/SEM services.

SEO - Search Engine Optimization I help your website rank higher organically on Google.

SEM - Search Engine Marketing I run those annoying ads on Google (and unfortunately paid ads on social platforms).

I wanted a job I could do from home ever since I was young. I was going to college for computer science, but dropped out since my school was very liberal and my education was worthless.

I BSed my way into jobs through a freelancing site called Upwork and met a pretty cool business partner on a public forum when reading about best practices.

Now I don't have to BS anymore so I can easily charge $50/hr+ or pick up clients for a few thousand dollars a month with a nice flatrate fee. I hired three friends/family and I'm teaching them. Once this tax season is done I'll start up an LLC and just work on expanding.

[–] 1 pt

Well this is freaking awesome. You could employee some people on Poal haha that way you have like minded gents working for you. I will look into SEO and SEM. Seems pretty cool if you could work from home. You have a family?

[–] 1 pt

Yeah a big reason I want to have my own company is to hire people who deserve it. I want a chill work environment where people can pick their own hours and work as much/little as they want as long as the clients are happy. A lot of these accounts don't require tons of maintenance once you optimize them.

One client pays me $2,600 a month on management fees for a few accounts that are out performing expectations even when I don't touch them anymore. I do a few hours of maintenance and make sure reports are good to go at the end of each month. None of my employees will need to be stuck in 8 hour soul sucking hours wasting their time. That's the dream/goal.

I'm going to be trying for my first kid next month, actually.

I tried two years ago but my life fell apart. Had to get work in order, bought a house, and now I feel a bit more free financially. It's a bit later than I wanted but life doesn't always go the way you want. Just gotta try and make the best of it where you can.

[–] 1 pt

That's great man. Good luck to you and your family. Thanks for the info too.

[–] 1 pt

Sounds like you're doing something that matters.

[–] 1 pt

Yeah that's the goal. Help some people who deserve it. I'm probably going to keep my "friends & family rates" for tiny companies moving forward. I have one client who does little "at home" music lessons and he's been absolutely thrilled to be getting around 10 new leads a month from my campaign. He hired his first employeee to help him with all the new clients. He didn't think he could get it past a hobby but now he's looking at himself as an entrepreneur. Good stuff.

Saving your post for when I get my website to not be a piece of shit and I'm ready to start driving people there.

Also, I have a sneaking suspicion you're better at it than all the millions of Indians spamming my email every day.
