I've been hearing tons of reports on Russians disapproving of Putin's actions and being heavily demoralized, but why would they be? What's the point in faking this? Shouldn't the (((Media))) be trying to demonize all Russians?

Same thing they did in the west. You only need 10-20% of the population to be very vocal on an issue to shift public opinion.
