There will not be an annihilation in any shape or form until a worldwide spiritual awakening occurs and unprecedented global peace follows and lasts for a while. There is a great book on this called "The Puritan Hope." This global peace has been expected for centuries and was known by the church fathers and further cemented by the reformers such as Luther and Calvin (but chiefly the puritan theologians after them, in the 17th century). As one writer (early 1920s) explained, the worldwide reveal and acceptance of Christ can't take place until international banker-ism is destroyed and nations break up again into sovereign entities (just as was done by the tower of babel in ancient times). The internet is the Gutenberg press that ushered in the Great Reformation. Books became ubiquitous and truth known. (The truth will make you free.) The internet also is the modern incarnation of the great worldwide Roman road system that allowed Christianity to be spread to all nations.
