Nothing. The perception of differences is instilled on both populations by politically driven propaganda campaigns. None of this will stop until one group of leaders extinguishes the other; at which point, there will be new propaganda campaigns that are then disseminated.

a large part of the taxes get diverted to billionairs. it just needs rerouted to infrastructure spending. or to not be collected at all.
The other is the government there doesn't do enough to stop organized crime from running protection rackets on top of a relatively high government tax rate. If you're paying 40% of you're income in various taxes then have to pay a mob another 20% you're pretty much fucked and all incentives you have try to grow a business are gone. You'll be in survival mode.
Then when you grow to a certain headcount then you have to face countless claims of discrimination. And of course big tech can shake you down at any time to not algo your business or bot up a whole ton of fake negative reviews.
All any country needs to do well is a population that wants to work for a better society, property rights, stable currency and an affordable protection racket. Russia is worse off than the US in every one of those metrics.
What does America have that Russia doesn't have?
I would argue that in terms of people, the true American has an independent mindset. In terms of land, the US has much more variation. From plains, to desert, rockies, Alaska, Appalachia, Grand canyon, Great Lakes, and etc. The US has the most variation of any country on Earth.
I don't think Russia has a Florida either.
Everywhere is cold in the winter.
They do have Sochi which is fairly warm in the winter. But yeah, nothing like Florida.
Roads. They need a solid roadways network. Interstate level. Everything flows from there. Better distribution and logistics will provide all the creature comforts in a timely manner wherever you are.
I think they're both great countries already.
