Duolingo is also fucking awful for learning a foreign language, as it doesn't teach you context at all. Try Clozemaster, you actually get some sense of context with sentences.

I've been using Domingo. Pretty good for beginners, then you can learn the rest by watching shows and seeing people use them in context.

Me and my roommate can have whole conversations about ordering food now in Norwegian.

Unless those shows are cooking ones and very basic ones at that, I very highly doubt you're going to be "watching shows" to get better at a foreign language and to actually achieve any results with that after using Duolingo of all things.

Er, yeah that's kind of how it works. You learn the language a bit then start listening to people use it.

We watched Lilyhammer and had a fun time pointing out what we could understand or not.
