I've never been near one, therefore they don't really exist. Only on TV.
Closest thing I've ever came across is the Detroit People Mover. If you've never heard of this thing, which completed construction in 1987... go read about it for a good laugh. Roughly 3 mile monorail to nowhere in particular.
It's only used when there's a game downtown to shuttle stadium patrons to and from various shady parking lots scattered throughout downtown. Vast majority of the time, it's deserted. Currently shut down apparently due to rain damage.
The LA Times in 1985 ran an about it:
federal transportation officials still regard the Detroit People Mover as one of the worst standing jokes among the nation’s mass transit projects.
Twas a joke back then, still a joke today. Amazing that the structure still stands.
