There's always been a disconnect between consumer and commercial type stuff. Consumer, you're hauling your own stuff so you're the only potential claimant for loss of goods, but with a commercial vehicle (even if you're not using it as such) there's potential for others to make claims against you, and ultimately, your insurance carrier. Insurance it's black and white, doesn't matter what you're actually using the vehicle for.
Thank those 'hit by a trucker' billboard lawyers. You'll need the insurance.
You mean thanks to the truckers that hit people and then the trucking company tries to play the "they're not an employee" game.
Both
It's 10k a fucking year! I just got a quote. What the fuck! My truck is worth about 25k the stuff I'm hauling max 50k! I'm paying 10k a year for insurance on something worth 75k! I have not been able to find a work around..
What the fuck do farmer pay who move their tractors around that cost 100k plus?
This shit is criminal! Are the trucking unions and companies retarded
I'm just one guy who has a hook up but 10 fucking k a year!
It is kind of weird that a random person can drive a U-haul but not a commercial truck. Ban U-haul, I guess. Or ban insurance mandates.
Tip. Buy the max personal injury insurance for YOU in your car insurance. It's very cheap because they don't expect you to fake your own injuries by hurting yourself.
Then if you are in an accident and you don't have health insurance of have huge deductibles your auto personal injury will cover YOUR costs.
It's a super cheap addon almost no one gets. You can usually get up to $100,000 dirt cheap.
Why buy it for the OTHER PERSON and not for YOU!?
stupidbird is correct. If you haul for yourself no problem, if you recieve compensation for what you haul, you are now subject to the fmcsa regulations for insurance. Hauling cars would require a $1Million dollar policy since its considered hazmat. Class 9 miscellaneous
Ya but you would think it would be double not fucking 10 times more
My truck I pay about 100 a month and can haul what ever I have no problem
I haul a car for someone else all the sudden my insurance is literaly 1000 dollars a month and the value of what I'm hauling for someone else could easily be less then what I haul for my self.
It's the layers and huge settlements I guess but God damn it's ridiculous the insurance fuckers are pure evil and the lawyers
This is for anyone reading this. When you get car insurance ask for uninsured driver. Cauze I was new to buying a car. I said so I have everything y’all offer yes? She said yes. Then we got rear ended by some spic with no insurance they say oh welll you didn’t have uninsured driver. It’s cheap. Like 20 bucks maybe every 6 months. Get it
