In the past taking over brick and mortar buildings in the capitol would mean something,

But in todays world with all information being so digital, and taxes being filed and paid with software through banks, rather than through mail.

What significance would taking over the capital really have? It seems like all Russia needs to do is be the one in an area with the most guns and say they are in charge. The media is putting a ton of focus on the capital. Why is that city so important?

Have control of Kiev, at all routes, roads, water supply, food supply chain, power supplies (gas,fuel,petrol/gasoline/diesel, & electricity) airspace above the city,

Control of major roads & routes in and out of Ukraine.

Control of the airports & air fields.

Read up on the Battle of Grozny to get an idea of whats coming.

Trust in the currency as well.

Some leaders like Erdogan don't care about the value of their own currency because they are self sustainable, meaning thst they essentially simply import shit because it cuts costs, not because they need shit.

When you have energy, natural gas, minerals and your own war industry.. Why would you even care about what the world thinks of your currency?

I live in the UK and can't afford to buy shit anyways.

Are you happy to pay 20 gbp for a burger? Are you happy to pay 200 gbp for plastic shoes? Are you happy to pay 500k gbp for a shit hole?

I don't think they're interested in destroying the place and this appears to be obvious considering they're tactics so far.

Russia wants to topple the corrupt jewish government and obtain access to the oil and gas, and secure access to markets.

This will significantly stabilize the region and cut off Biden and friends' access to their criminal operations and network there.

Grozny sounds like it was a shit show for the russians. If they killed the grid, controlled the airspace and all roads into the city, why didnt they use siege tactics? No need to destroy the city, just wait for them to starve and surrender.

They want their hearts and minds. The Russians want the average Ukrainian to wake up to who really controls them. Starving them works against this objective.

>sounds like it was a shit show for the russians

Maybe so, but they still achieved the clear military objective of taking full possession of the city & surrounding area.
