Leasing a car is a bad idea.
Not if you're leasing it through your LLC and writing it off as a business expense.
(I don't do this, I've only heard that it's a possibility. I have a step sister who leases on her own dime like a good goy)
You'd have to justify to the IRS that the vehicle was necessary for your business and that you only used it for business.
This is difficult to do unless you have a real business that is generating income and that you use your vehicle for.
Fuck the IRS.
This makes sense if your net worth exceeds what it would have been had those payments gone toward equity.
Lmao car "equity"
If you don't drive that much, it may actually be the preferable option.
Unless you don't need to go any where or do anything but want a nice car every 2 to 3 years.
That's a degenerate lifestyle.
Depends on the circumstances. There's a narrow set of circumstances where it works out well. You have to understand the resale value, the total cost of ownership, your total annual mileage, and current interest rates if financing. If you're getting a car with shit resale value (like a Nissan), and you drive 12,000 miles a year or less, a lease can be a good thing.
Leasing makes sense in some situations. At the end of the lease, you have options to buy or options to sell the right to buy (or something like that), and can absolutely come out ahead. I know somebody that leased, exercised the option to buy, then turned around the same day and sold it to caravan for a profit.
Work the system we have.
