Not my problem. Useful to know how to do. Not end all be all if SHTF situation. If you want to run an engine on it you can and you don't need to refine it on a large scale for fuel.

If you want to run an engine on it you can and you don't need to refine it on a large scale for fuel.

You do if you want to drive further than what you can on what you can get before SHTF. I'm just making the point that it's no better than gasoline in terms of providing a way for the common person to maintain mobility in a SHTF scenario.

There is one fuel for vehicles that anybody can make unlimited amounts of right at home without a factory and without the need for additional inputs, something they could keep on making for decades even if every other human on the planet had died: electricity. But all things have tradeoffs. The tradeoff is that it takes a couple of hours to fill your 'tank.' I'll take that tradeoff for being able to fill my tank for decades as many times as I want for no addional cost or procurement of raw materials.

Thanks, I agree with that sentiment. It's like the dudes on the prepping show that go out to shoot transformers for oil to run the tractor.

Great if you never will see power again. Not so great if they have to actively replace everything because a guy lost power for the week.

Some people let their emotions control them. For some there's some visceral, gut feeling that makes them unable to embrace electric motors - but only if they're used to power a car. They sell themselves short. For $2,000 bucks they can buy enough used solar panels to fill up their car every day enough to drive 250 miles. Those panels will last for decades. $2,000 bucks for enough "gas" to drive at least 900,000 miles, but they won't do it because it makes them angry. Sort of strange, really.

Gasoline goes bad rather quickly. Old oil can sit for a long time and still be usable as fuel.
