I'm not sure what the ooze was that he saw with his ex - if it was actual goo or they both hallucinated. I say they're like kids or pretend to be bc I can "feel" what something looks like, and in my experience, the other-worldly feel like they are trying to look like kids. There was one in a newer home that appeared after the owners inherited some antique furniture (I used to have a cleaning business and this was a customer). It would try to take on the form of a little girl - about 8, in like a victorian gown. Locked me out of rooms, the dog would refuse to go upstairs and just bark at the bottom of the stairs. I always felt it watching me over the catwalk and in the guest bedroom where the furniture was. I had an employee cleaning that house, and I came by to help her one day. I was downstairs, she was vacuuming upstairs. She appeared in the room I was in asking why I was standing behind her a few seconds ago upstairs. She said as she was backing out of a bedroom, she saw me pacing back and forth upstairs in the hallway, then I stood behind her. I had never gone upstairs. The thing in the basement doesn't get to me anymore. I told it to leave us alone a few months ago and it's been quiet, just watching. It was banging around in the basement for a few minutes, trying to scare me. You can't be scared is the main thing. No fear, weakness or that shit will get to you. The shadows I've seen have varied in size. But it's always the darkest, emptiest black even with the room lit. There have been other "kids" in the same places as the shadows, so I don't know if there are kids stuck with them or if they try to pretend to be kids so you trust them more or let them stay. I don't know. No kids in this house, just a dead grandma and the thing, sometimes some middle-aged guys pop in and out.
