I don't know much about firearms. My husband though loves them and has a few. (He is always trying to get me to go to the shooting range and I joke with my temper he shouldn't be advocating I get my own gun). He will talk on and on about models, makes, years, production companies, blahblah, blah. My eyes just glaze over. Are there any quick read books I can pick up to get the basics so I can sort of follow his conversation? I don't have a lot of time, and I really don't have the interest...I just want to be able to understand him.

Whooo ... a hard one. It kind of depends on what exactly you want to know. Guns for hunting, for self-defense ... we need a starting point. Pistols, rifles, shotguns? Maybe the subject would even make a great Poalcast some night for as people often ask this kind of question and it's so hard to explain. BTW ... is another who could be helpful.

I'd be glad to answer any specific questions. And trust me, you really ... really ... should go to the range with your husband and give it a try. I've found over the years that a trip to the range can be transformative for those who have little experience, or even a negative view of firearms. It would actually make a great date night. If you enjoy it, you've found something new and exciting that can become a great diversion, if not, you've lost nothing but a few hours time.

Anyway, I'd be glad to answer specific questions as they come up ... feel free to ask.
