This is where I’m at. Evil is very interesting and entertaining, but I’m wary of staring into the darkness for too long, honestly. Let’s have some light. Sounds great.
Sit, walk, stand, by Watchman Nee is really good for beginning your walk with God. Anything by Watchman Nee or Andrew Murray, really. I own probably 20+ books of Nee and more of Murray.
Any sermon by Ravenhill, A.W. Tozer, Andrew Murray, I like some of Charles Spurgeon. You can listen to all of them free on YouTube(including Nee). These guys stayed true to the Bible instead of selling out to big Christian schools and the doctrines they teach. They're all old school. It's crazy to hear them talk about how fallen the church was 200-50 years ago.
If you'd like more specific recommendations let me know. I liked looking at the content and choosing that which piqued my interest most, and work my way through their content as I became more familiar with them. Ravenhill has an accent that takes a moment to get used to but he's my favorite.
The best thing about all of it is learning that it is nothing like what they have you believe in church. I spent many years searching for God in all the wrong ways because it did not fit into the box I was taught. Faith is very simple and very personal. It is never about what you do or have done to earn your way into grace. You are already given grace. The spirit works within you to correct the things that are not Christ like. If you lean upon your self to try to be better you will always fail, but with the spirit you are given a new heart and understanding which create new features and you go through a process of cleansing of the things that are counter Christ. You literally begin to change and it is often effortless. Not always though!
If you get into any of these guys I would love to hear your thoughts. I only have two friends who are actually believers of Christ. I do not call them Christian, as it's a meaningless word now. Churches are full of paganism these days, and everyone in them is a "Christian".
Thank you for this.
I’ll look into it and let you know what I find.
