  1. These historical people must have had significance or beneficial for people outside their race. That means you cannot include figures like MLK, Mendela, Harriet Tubman.

  3. They cannot be famous for being victims or criminals.

I've asked this to some friends that are rather educated in history and they had a hard time coming up with names.

Well...how many can you name in honor of this Black History month?

Also Carver didn't even do that. He pushed a bunch of peanut recipe ideas, but none of them were ever commercially successful. Modern peanut butter is attributed to John Kellog, though whether he came up with it or just slapped a claim on it for his company who knows.
